If you are going to be having a large party or throwing another type of event, then you may be planning on having it catered. There are many benefits that come with ordering catering for an event. One of the things you will need to decide on is the type of food you want to offer to your guests. Here are some things you want to think about when you are trying to figure this out:

Will everyone be seated, or will many be walking around or standing?

Depending on the type of event, you may have everyone seated to eat, or there may be a number of people who will be standing or walking around. It is important to think about this when you are choosing a menu. If everyone is going to be seated, then you won't have as many restrictions on good food options. However, if people are going to be walking around, then you want to choose foods that are easier to eat this way. For example, people who are eating while walking around will have a difficult time with steak, since they have to figure out how to cut the steak while they are standing.

Are you giving enough options?

You may love seafood and want to have seafood plates served at your event. However, there are a large number of people who don't like seafood, and there are also people who are allergic to some types of seafood, such as shellfish. This is why it is a good idea to make sure you have options for those who don't like or can't tolerate seafood. Many people who serve seafood at events make sure they offer something additional, like chicken. Also, if you are going to have children at your party or event, then know that a lot of kids don't like seafood.

What will the weather be like?

You may want to consider what the weather will be like when you are choosing the type of food you want to serve. If it's going to be a very hot day, then you may want to serve cooler foods. And if it's going to be a cold day, then warmer foods can provide more comfort. Also, consider the temperature with regards to dessert as well. Having ice cream on a hot day and warm pie on a cold day are a couple examples of ways desserts can help improve the comfort level of the people you will be having at your event.
